Laptop HP ProBook 4540s C6Z37UT Deals & Reviews

Josh from Boston "joshman25" (Boston, MA): I bought this laptop to use as my Digital Audio Workstation (DAW). I wasn't looking to spend too much, but I wanted a minimum spec, which this laptop filled. Most important was a dual core processer. The i5 in this machine is plenty powerful enough for my use. I also wanted a 7200rpm hard drive - this one has it. I did upgrade the RAM to the full 16GB (an extra $88 in Crucial memory) - the machine comes with 4GB and is upgradable to 16GB. That upgrade took all of 1 minute. All in, I spent under $700 for a laptop that could have easily cost $900 or more.
Roger Dodger (Denver, CO USA): It's a computer laptop. It works as expected. I got this one because I didn't want windows 8, but wanted a decent amount of memory. This gave me the option of sticking with 7 and also gave me a disk I could use to upgrade to windows 8 if I ever feel adventuresome. I like the key board. The keys are raised. There are some features I haven't tried yet. It is light weight. That is a plus. Much faster than my other laptops. The CD/DVD slot is not well designed, is flimsy and is hard to open.
Bandoman "bando" (usa): By the way, thank you very much to all people who write reviews about products on amazon.com and online sites. 5 stars for the seller TigerDirect, 5 stars for Amazon.com (I sell and buy on Amazon, and I love the way they handle this business), and more than 5 stars for this wonderful laptop. This is not my first laptop. In fact, in the last 4 years, I have own laptops from Dell, Asus, Apple MacBook (which I returned), Samsung, Sony (which I have just returned today). I have also owned an all in one pc from Asus and another from Sony. However, this is my first time to write a review about a pc, this is my first time to like my pc to the point to sit down and share my first impression...
K. Young (Rockaway, Oregon USA): I've had this computer for a few weeks now. It's been great. Fast and easy. The BEST part?? Windows 7. Yup. I HATE 8. Won't have it. I am a mouse user, hate the touch pad. One the greatest things about this computer is that you can EASILY turn the touch pad on and off with a double tap in the right spot. Perfect. Honestly, I'm very happy with this notebook that DOES NOT have windows 8. :)

Laptop HP Pavilion g6-2237us Deals & Reviews

Greivin Mena Velásquez(NY): Just got the PC, initial configuration was quite easy. If you are not used to a tablet environment, windows 8 is going to be a bit challenging, but nothing to worry about. There is a short manual for windows 8 showing some touchpad commands and once you access the first thing you will see is a dashboard, where there is a tutorial. I got caught up by how beautiful windows 8 looks, and just by switching tabs you access classic windows 7 desktop view, which I personally believe to be useful while you become familiar with this OS.
Henry Sullivan (Texas): Its quite a great laptop as am still trying to get used to windows 8 , I a cant comment much as I just got it this week , I will come back when I get wind of it , though I must say that am having problems with my internet am failing to get through sites which I used to access with ease with my previous g6 laptop . if any one has a solution or suggestions to maybe the internet settings please advise , I will come back with a more precise rating once I sort out my problems .
Marcus House (VA): The price is great but you get Garbage. Within 1 week of buying I see that the keys on the keyboard stops working. You will hit a J and it thinks you are trying to do F2 or screen swap. The only way to get out of this is to log off and log back in. The hot keys at the top of the keyboard are swapped. So F5 does not do refresh. I have never been able to successfully connect wirelessly with my printer. Now after about 2 years, entire folders disappear. What do I mean by that? Well you can go to Windows Explorer (file manager) and you can go to your My documents folders and you can see your "Kids" folder (as an example) but if you write a word document and then go to save it, the "kids" folder within your My documents folder cannot be seen. So what I have to do is save it to my desktop and then move it manually to the kids folder.
Alex Falcon (USA): My previous laptop was an older Dell. So this laptop is quite an upgrade for me. If you are used to newer laptops already I'm not sure if you will love it as much as I do. Like all other reviews Windows 8 is a unique experience that takes some getting use to but with a little exploring you will. I do like how you can go to the OG desktop view similar to Windows 7. Setup is super easy pretty much turn it on and you are ready to rock and roll. I have always preferred Google search engine but I am already in love with the format of MSN homepage and Bing search. The only problem I've experienced is the mouse arrow freezes on me from time to time. I just wait a few beats and then it moves again but I wonder why this happens? Overall I'm very happy and would recommend this to anyone!

Laptop HP 2000-2b19wm Deals & Reviews

Isabella Roland(Canada): Maybe I'm biased because my old laptop was literally falling apart, but I love this laptop. It works quickly and efficiently. It's very organized. I wasn't willing to spend an insane amount on a computer just to surf the web. I have had incredibly good luck with HP products. I would advise anyone looking to purchase a simple laptop to give this one a shot.
Phillip G. Boyd (Washington, DC): I needed to replace an aging laptop and while I wasn't excited about moving from Windows XP to 8, it has not been as bad as I had thought it would. I was able to import all of my old settings using Microsoft's Easy Transfer program and external USB drive and finally managed to import all of my old Outlook Express email messages by getting Microsoft's free Essentials Live Mail as a replacement for the out of the box Windows 8 Mail program. I purchased a third party tool to add back the Windows 7 start button (if you can wait for 8.1 you can do without the $5 add on).
Nancy A. Guenther "Dedicated Student" (Florida): I ordered this computer about a week ago and I was pleasantly surprised that it was shipped in 2 days and arrived in 4 days from the day or ordering. I was apprehensive about Windows 8, so I read up on it a little in Wikepedia. When the computer arrived I was able to start it right away once it got pugged in and learned how to use Windows 8 in 2 days . It is fast and I am glad I did not settle for a tablet ,instead. For the price I paid I am really happy and I called for and received good tech support from HP in a prompt and efficient manner. I strongly recommend it .
Deborah combs (THOMASVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA, US): I like it now that I had windows 7 installed on it. But I am disappointed with Amazon. After I tried out the computer I saw that I did not like Windows 8. I wrote to Best Tech Express to get instructions to return it. They complained that I had used it, so it is now a used machine. They rejected my reason for returning it, which was that I didn't like Windows 8 and would charge a restocking fee of 20%. I decided to have a geek friend of mine install Windows 7, and it works fine now.

Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Z400 Deals & Reviews

SmilinBob(Canada): Would have given this computer 5 stars but I had to send my first one back because of WiFi issues. It seems there is a know WiFi issue. I don't know if it's affecting all brands of computers with the Intel Centrino Wireless N-2230 adapter or just Lenovo. After reading other reviews on Lenovo computers I was worried that I would have the same issue as I had with the first Z400 Touch. The 2nd arrived yesterday and it is working perfectly. The hardest part of the setup was finding an unused email address for hotmail which you need for the Win8 Store, alot like a Gmail account for Android. I have a model only sold online from the Lenovo store with the only difference is that mine has 8 Gigs of RAM and a 1600X900 Display.
Floyd Owsley "Floydster" (St. Marys, Ohio USA): I was unable to move but a few feet away with laptop without losing internet connection due to a weak wireless signal. Trouble is not with my router as I can use my Acer laptop outside of my house and still have a strong signal same with with my iPad and cell phones. Called Levono and they were unable to help. So I will be returning.I have since seen other complaints on the Levono's forums in regards to networking issues. Too bad, I really liked this laptop.
T. Peiser "FORTUNATINA" (RANCHO BELAGO): I have owned 5 or 6 laptops and this is my favorite so far. I bought the i7 processor, 8 GB RAM, with Win 8 touch screen. Some have complained about Win 8, but then every new Windows version has had detractors. I'm OK with it. The speed is great, the look is sleek, and the fan is quiet. I saw one review comparing it to a "free weight" because it weighs 4 1/2 pounds. If that is too heavy for you then you might have other issues you need to address first. It isn't a tablet, but it has multiple ports and an optical drive that I need. The keyboard does flex a bit when typing, but it doesn't feel cheap or fragile. The screen is bright and clear and at $ 760, the price was the best value machine I found.
K. Parsons (Indiana): I spent a long time researching different laptops for my dad. I was a little nervous about Windows 8 since everyone seems to hate it. But my dad, at 55, had no problem using the computer (though that might be because he has an iPad and is used to using a touch screen). The computer is very well-made, sleek, the keyboard lights up and the screen is very bright and clear. My dad and I were both blown away by the resolution of the screen. The only negative that I have is that the computer is quite heavy despite being very sleek.

Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p Deals & Reviews

Gordon Patterson (USA): I have to admit, I was a bit concerned when I first purchased this product and was waiting on shipment because I realized there was an SLI version for only $200 more. However, when I received this laptop, IT CAME WITH A GT750M SLI ALREADY INSTALLED (not to mention the bluray player as well!). This laptop config is WELL worth the price with the 4th gen i7 processor, 16 gb of ram, 1TB of HD and 24gb of SSD, and TWO nvidia GT750M SLI! I instantly downloaded all my games and booted up Guild Wars 2 first. It ran like a CHARM; all settings maxed and doing World Vs World with huge battles.
William N(NY): I have had the y510p for about 5 days. Other than being a finger print magnet I found it to be a extremely fast laptop. The screen is NOT glossy but has a fine textured anti- glare finish. I have a dell 2713h and it is every bit as good! Nicest screen I have seen on a laptop other than a retina display. The keyboard is very comfortable and has a good feel to it. Like the backlighting and easy to adjust brightness. The only drawback is the 5200 rpm hdd which I am swapping out with an ssd. I will move the hd to the drive bay as I rarely need the second graphics card. Not a big issue.
C. Hammaker (Houston, Texas United States): Received my y510p today. It indeed came with two NVIDIA GeForce GT 750m cards (one of which was in the laptop's ultrabay). It appears that the laptop comes bundled with an optical blue ray drive. It is confusing when you open the box because the little box containing the blue ray drive just says "Removable DVD Burner." However, when you take the burner out of its box you'll see that it has the Blu-Ray logo on it. The device is a Matshita DB-MLT UJ262 unit, which searches show is a blue ray readable/writable drive.
Dueling Glove (The Infamous)(Ca): Ordered this computer based on the impressive specs and specifically because it had a blu-ray drive. I happily paid the extra for the blu-ray drive but when I got the machine it wouldn't play blu-rays. The drive would recognize the disc but the software (Power DVD 10) wouldn't support it. I updated the drivers/software but still no dice. Searched online and found that others are having the same problem. Apparently I need to upgrade to the "ultra" version of the software (at an additional cost of course)to get blu-rays to play. So I pay $1300 for a computer only to get an unexpected additional software cost to get the machine to work as it's supposed to work? Why advertise, include, and upcharge for a blu-ray drive that's useless? The whole thing reeks of extremely poor quality control and feels like a ripoff.

Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad U310 Deals & Reviews

R. Seto "Tech Guru" (NJ): Got for $599 last week from another vendor. First Lenovo and I am happy with purchase and tech support. First one received did have dead pixel on arrival but vendor instantly sent me a replacement with next day Saturday delivery. This is an upgrade from my 4years old Samsung netbook which served me very well. I find the u310 touch to be very fast, screen is very nice and clear after making fine adjustments, track pad very smooth after making fine adjustments, touch screen a nice addition. Did not have any dropped WIFI connection and have found operational distance to be good. Very nice build and like the aluminum outer shell.
James Daniel (Austin, TX United States): I've nothing to complain about with this purchase, which is saying something, indeed. Once upon a time, you had to pay high prices for the power to support a multimedia and gaming platform, and I tend to buy very high-powered laptops over the years as a rule, because I cannot stand the performance of machines that are designed to be energy efficient and preserve battery life. While this isn't on the level of getting an overclocked i7 desktop with the latest Nvidia graphics card and liquid cooling ... let me put it this way: it's so efficient it doesn't need the cooling. For comparison, this is replacing an old 2006 Vaio laptop of mine that runs XP (not one of my high-powered machines, but one that I had converted for multimedia use).
Spencer (San Diego): I thought the wifi issue everyone seems to be talking about wasn't going to be that big of a deal considering I'm only a room away from my router anyway. The thing is, it still had a hard time connecting even when most of my devices connect to the wifi perfectly. The laptop itself is great; it looks nice, works well for the most part, but the wifi hardware is just a deal breaker. This is supposed to be a portable system, not a system that needs to be connected to ethernet plug consistently. Everything else about the laptop is great though; really clean look, pretty good battery life, touch is a great addition with windows 8. If you don't mind being closer to the router or being slow when you're distant from it, it honestly is a pretty decent laptop overall though. I'm a student/light gamer.
T. Reed (MD): There is not much to say about this computer other than the wifi reception is terrible. If I am one room away from the router my speed drops by over half and it is not even usable more than one room from the router. We have several other laptops in the house and they all work considerably better than our "new" Lenovo. When I contacted Lenovo they indicated the problem is with the wifi hardware installed in the computer. The technician suggested that I purchase an external wifi adapter.

Laptop Lenovo G585 Deals & Reviews

Boshemia "Boshemia" (Colorado): Just a few chapters away from the finish line on my first book and my old nasty broke laptop quit, then another shorted out, then another could no longer run OpenOffice. It was dire.I wanted to wait until I could afford a higher end laptop but I ended up taking a shot on this Lenovo. I needed something that could handle my workload. Writing, editing, graphics, websites, social networking... and I needed one that could do it all at once.Elphaba will be my faithful muse while I make my writing dreams come true!Great computer, everything was set up and running right away. No issues of any sort. So happy with her.
A. Warshaw (NJ): It ended up being a bad decision. It is near impossible to watch a streaming video without it being patchy in either the video or sound, even with no other programs or windows open. It's very frustrating, since I don't have a TV and would want to watch Hulu or Netlflix, and it makes it difficult with Facebook or Youtube videos. Even gifs don't display properly or smoothly. Regular webpages without any media content also display that "patchy" behavior, where it gets stuck in places when you're trying to scroll and even the text you are typing does not show up evenly. Pages take quite a bit to load and forget about trying to open up multiple tabs on a web browser. My first day using it, I had IE and Spotify open and it froze and crashed I haven't even tried installing most of the apps I'd like to have, including Word, because I know it will just be frustrating.
J.A.Crumley "JA" (TN, United States): I am told it's quite possibly a Windows 8 problem, but this computer doesn't come with a Windows 7 downgrade and I'm not willing to spend more money on an installation CD. On top of that, Windows 8 is pretty frustrating to use. I'm returning the computer, and I hope I can warn some others to not waste their time.
James "2020 In a blink" (Utah): I gave this to my wife for her birthday a while ago. After realizing that Windows 8 is set up as if it was being used on a mobile device, she became a little more accepting of the product. The problem, of course, is that absent swipe actions on the screen (the screen is not set up to be touch sensitive), the operating system becomes a pain in the neck. It appears as if Microsoft is again trying to press the world into it's vision of what hardware should be present in a system, rather than writing software to work with the hardware that is in place. Some things never change.

Laptop Lenovo G500 15.6-Inch Deals & Reviews

Nathan D. Linn (Los Angeles): Having owned this machine for about 7 months since the posting of this review I can say that I'm quite happy with my purchase overall, despite not being a huge fan of Windows 8, which mine came bundled with. It is still quite fast, is lightweight and stays cool, and I really enjoy the full keyboard with number bad. That said, I do have some minor complaints I have with the device, primarily relating to the screen
Nick (NY): The display is quite glossy and wide. I would have definitely preferred an anti-glare screen. The overall size of the screen is adequate and the aspect ratio is good for movies, but the resolution isn't very high (maxes out at 768 pixels high) and I'd have preferred it to be taller and less wide, though that's unfortunately become quite rare in inexpensive laptops these days. Shortly after purchasing the machine I attempted to replace Windows 8 with an version, which turned out pretty disastrously, and I'm fairly tech savvy. If you don't like the preinstalled OS, I'd recommend getting another device. Overall it's definitely a solid machine with a nice keyboard that still runs well for the price, though.
Balint "ballantyne" (Berkeley, Ca): This computer was delivered on Thursday at 4 pm with a return date of the same day. So impossible to return. It didn't work coming our of the package. Called Lenovo. The tech told me it was static electricity and gave a fix that worked for about 30 minutes. Called Lenovo on Friday and was told these computers had a history of manufacturing errors with the video cord and the motherboard. He said I would never be satisfied with it and to return it to Lenovo for replacement. I decided not to go on that path since the G500 would not be something I would want to try again. Amazon finally gave me the chance to return it after complaint.
Joe F(Agentina): The main thing that I think a shoppers should get out of this review is that the price is good for a laptop that is reliable for casual use. I personally use it for college, surfing, light gaming, and music storage. I have had it for over 6 months now and it still works like it was the first day. Windows 8 takes some getting used to, but it's not that bad. The major (or only) gripe I have about this computer is the mouse pad. It is absolutely terrible, but a wireless mouse can take care of this problem. I downloaded a program to help with the mouse pad settings which helped some, but the mouse pad is still hard to use for me as it just doesn't read my motions accurately. I will swipe my finger in a direction and the pointer seems to get hung up and lags. Go out and get a $10-15 wireless mouse to save the headache, disable the mouse pad, then you will love this laptop!

Laptop Apple MacBook Air MC965LL/A Deals & Reviews

Alex Green "alx779" (Toronto, Canada): I continued to experience high heat/fan noise issues throughout the week. Sometimes it was during routine web browsing where some of the websites contained Flash elements. Starting Windows XP in Parallels would immediately set the fan in motion, again, sometimes hitting 6,000+ rpm. Playing Civilization IV, a fairly old game, had fan going full blast entire time with CPU again reaching 90C. Apple's own "Cosmos" screensaver brings the CPU temperature up to 80-85C and the fan up to 4500-5000rpm. The most annoying thing -- none of these tasks were taxing the CPU at more than 50%!

iGlaswegian "Z.S" (Scotland): I want to raise a point not many people write about in their reviews and that is SSD performance over time. Although, OS X Lion includes TRIM support the performance of all solid state drives degrades as you store more data to the drive. I've experienced this with a couple of desktop builds I've done. With some SSD's the performance degradation begins after filling up just half the disk drive, and affects nearly all drives to some extent once the drive is 70% full. This is something to consider when storing data. An external storage solution of some kind is strongly recommended.

R. V. Laxmikanth "L.V. Raghavendra" (Detroit, USA): Those that saw my previous review of the 2010 11" MacBook Air will fully understand that title. The 2010 MacBook Air suffered from a lack of true value, attempting instead to do the absolute minimum in an attempt to appeal to people's aesthetic tastes while sacrificing key features and not pushing the envelope. Well, with the 2011 version, they have gone back to the drawing board. Indeed, they have released what the MacBook Air should have been all along. You can read the specs above for details about what is all here. I'm only focusing on what's improved over the last gen.

M.D.C. "The Franchise" (San Diego, CA): Lastly, I am compelled to knock them for their refusal to at least include a USB restore drive in the box. I know they're pushing downloads and streaming media, but the reality is that physical media for computer restoration is almost a necessity. The novelty of an internet-based reinstall is nice, and they can keep that, but I still say that they should have included the Lion OS on a USB drive like they did with the 2010. The additional cost is pennies for that drive, so cost isn't the reason. They're pushing an agenda, and I don't like being tethered to the internet if and when I need to reinstall my operating system. There is a hidden recovery partition for this purpose that you can also use. But I think Apple is missing the boat here. What if the drive itself, the physical drive, goes toast? You're stuck unless you pay money. Thus the value of having external media for restoration if and when that were to happen. The SSD bar in the Air is replaceable, and there are already options from OWC for those users. But it's useless unless you pay $30 to download Lion and burn it/write it yourself or pay Apple $70 for a USB stick with Lion on it. To me both are unacceptable alternatives for something that should be in the box of every computer.

Laptop Apple iPearl mCover Hard Shell Cover Case Deals & Reviews

Sarah H. Wendell "SB Sarah" (NJ): When I purchased my new MacBook Air at the Apple store, I asked specifically for a clear hard shell case for it because the aluminum body of the laptop scratches really easily. I was assured that the case I was buying (for $50!) was going to fit. Did it? OF COURSE NOT. It was for the prior model. So I had to make do with the case that didn't fit to protect the computer, while searching for a hard shell case that would actually fit.

James T. Scott (Florida): This cover was exactly as advertised and exactly what I expected. It fit well and only took a minute to install. For the 20 dollars it cost, I couldn't be happier. I did have concerns about the fit in relation to the hinges, but I haven't noticed any problems. Also was pleased with the silicone keyboard cover. Buy it , you'll like it.

Paul Diaz "Paul D" (Great Falls, VA United States): I did a lot a research on accessories for my 13" MacBook Air, and still believe that the iPearl mCover Hard-Shell Cover Case has been my best accessory investment to date. It gives me total peace of mind from the scrapes and scratches of everyday use (including putting in/taking out of a Speck sleeve - which has flexed and now accepts the Air without issues, see my other review). Also, the foldable "feet" built into this hard-shell case are a huge benefit to keep the Air from warming up/running the fan all of the time. Several people have complimented about that feature alone (which should be taken as kudos to iPearl's overall design, as few notice the rest of the shell due to its perfect fit). I haven't had/used my iPearl long enough to comment on other user's concerns about micro-cracks forming at the corners, but at this price-point (at least compared to the laptop), I'd be willing to buy a new one each year for the benefits that it brings.

John (MCKINNEY, TX, United States): What I like about this clear shell casing is that most people do not even happen to notice that you have a casing on the Mac Air. Those that look closely are really amazed. Those that own a Mac Air instantly tell me they are going to buy this case. I use the Mac Air in presentations before companies we sell our web services to. It is critical that laptop look pristine. It has to look great, and yet still be efficient.

Laptop Apple Kuzy - AIR Deals & Reviews

Happy Wife (Valrico, FL United States): I noticed that SHOPPER who wrote that review, posted it to every single color of this unit - doing it TEN TIMES. Not sure if that was an Amazon thing or the writer doing it 10 times. But I am 100% sure that review was written by a competitor to this Kuzy cover! I also noticed that it is the ONLY review written by Shopper. I am a real buyer and I want to correct the record since this was the only review at the time of my noticing this.

SDJ "Teacher Bear" (Florida): I was hesitant to purchase after reading the reviewer that stated it didn't fit. So, being the wise consumer I am, I e-mailed the seller who promptly responded to my e-mail and told me it is for the the Macbook Air and if I wasn't satisfied I had 30 days to return.
I bought it Monday and I got it today! It feels awesome, and the quality is so much better than Speck of which I have already gone through 4 cases in a year!!! Yes 4!!! And had to pay return shipping everytime it cracked to get a new one. Not cool! Needless to say, we shall see how this holds up, but already it feels stronger, whereas said brand case usually had a crack within an hour of use and I take VERY good care of my case.

Mike Morrison (Christchurch, Canterbury, NZ): Finally, a product that "fits with good form and function" as depicted. This is my third cover for my MacBook Air - not an easy product to find a decent cover for! I was looking for something that wouldn't add a ton of weight, would be functional, would "fit" (close easily), would allow for dissipation of heat, but wouldn't be "slick and cheap-looking" - and THIS IS IT! It has a nice "rubberized" finish on the outside, easy to hold (although it DOES pick up fingerprints easily - but they all do), fits very well on the Air, and protects it well, too! It closes fine (stays open a little, but, what do you want, you're putting a cover on it) and it "looks good", not like some cheap piece of plastic. Good value for the $$$. You can see the Apple logo through it, if that matters to you (not as clear as they show on the picture).

M. Long "FanTango" (Indiana, USA): I swear I thought I would n e v e r find Tiffany Blue for my Mac 13'' late 2011. So after searching for a month, I finally found this one. Even though it stated llate 2010 I bought it anyway because the color is just too hard to pass up. And oh em freaking gee it fits! The color is true to the picture. Cheaper then the spec by half the price, durable, and awesome color? Sold. Unlike the spec this case actually haven't chip or crack for the last two weeks I've had it. I put my mac with this case directly into my jansport backpack with no extra padding and it's still holding up. Thank you Kuzy <3

Laptop Apple Macbook Air MD231ll/A Deals & Reviews

William Cannon (Lake Charles, LA USA): I wanted to purchase an Ultrabook (i.e., the PC version of the Air), but it seemed they all had either extreme flaws or annoying quirks. I have had an iPhone for years, as well as an iPad, but this is my first experience of any sort with an Apple straight computer after using solely PCs for about 20 years. It took about 20 minutes to get accustomed to the various gestures necessary to operate the Air quickly. It is truly an intuitive device, it's ultra-lightweight, and MS Office for Mac works great. The image quality is also outstanding --- a 13" screen with 1440 x 900 is crisp and clear. The Retina display certainly looks amazing, but I can't think of a good reason to pay the huge premium, unless you do computer graphics for a living (I'm a lawyer). I recommend the Air, even to professionals/business-oriented users.

Chad (United States): I recently owned a Mac book pro Retina since it came out last summer. I thought to myself, gee I would love to get a touch screen based laptop with Windows 8, sounds pretty neat. I like touch screen tablets.
Point is, I sold the Retina, and bought a touch screen windows laptop, one of the highest rated I could find. (Lenovo Yoga 13). When you read reviews of Laptops, all of them have a trade off, touch pad, build quality, keyboard etc.
I had it for 2 days, and I returned it. I went back to debating what my next laptop should be. So I settled on a Mac book Air 13.3 the one mentioned here, I dont regret it.

Andrey Zubkov (Bridgewater, NJ USA): I needed a laptop that I can carry and walk around with every day, use it for development, word processing and presentations. Last year I got a Lenovo U300s, and was very happy with it. Three things stood out: screen was a bit dark and image would fade at an angle, 4GB ram was low and it had an inferior trackpad; otherwise it was a superb laptop. Unfortunately, that laptop was stolen and so I decided to finally embrace the new age of personal computing with a MB Air. I'm very happy with my choice.

GorgeousMika (Brooklyn, NY USA): I just purchased this MacBook Air. I have been a committed PC owner forever. This is definitely the best machine I have ever owned. It is quiet and fast. Everything just works. Sure, it cost 25%-50% more than a comparably equipped Windows machine. But it is definitely worth it. Apps load very quickly, reboots rarely required (and fast if they are).

Laptop Apple MacBook Air MD760LLA Deals & Reviews

VeritasluxMea "Neoplatonic Platonist" (the south): Working off formerly a 13" macbook air mid 2011, I just bought this new 2013 model with the Haswell CPU and low power consumption infrastructure.
Off a full charge, I disconnected 3 hours 40 mins and had an external drive connected the entire time, restarted 4 times, and did NONSTOP heavy application installs (Office suite, Photoshop etc.), a total of 23 applications, and ran youtube vids in the background the entire time, and after all of that nonstop heavy loading, I had 76% on my battery, of which id have around 35% on my older Macbook Air.

Manuel Mueller (Springfield, MA): I was looking for a new laptop that would be primarily used for travelling. For this purpose it had to be light, compact and have a great battery life.
Initially I wasn't looking into Mac's as I was always more familiar with Windows than with MacOS and never had any problems with the OS from Microsoft but the advertised 12 hour battery life of the 2013 MacBook Air convinced me to give this one a try and I did not regret it.

D "Darker" (Bay Area, CA): Well, I purchased this at the Apple Store at Manhattan Beach, CA, and immediately upon opening the box, the Macbook Air had two small dings in the aluminum - one on the side of the monitor, and one that appeared to be small hole by the keyboard. It was small but noticeable, so I returned it and got another that was in pristine condition. Any Apple executives out there reading this, please check out this store. I don't know if they're repackaging returned products or what but this was the second time I purchased something from there and had to return it because of some issue.

Trevor Lowing "Trevor" (Satellite Beach, Fl, USA): My oldest son works in the Performing Arts and most of the software they use runs on Mac. The raw specs of every Apple notebook are sufficient to run the specialized software he uses, so it just comes down to individual preference of "battery life, portability and price" vs "screen resolution and hard drive space". In my analysis (see below) I came to the conclusion that 128gb is fine when supplemented with the SD card slot,an external drive and cloud storage (iCloud, DropBox, Box, etc).

Laptop Apple MacBook Pro MD101LL/A Deals & Reviews

Elizabeth A. Schauble "Azunai" (USA): I used to be a die hard windows fan. I was always bashing OSx for the usual things (too expensive, too dumb, et cetera, et cetera), and I never really gave it a chance. Windows 7 was my OS of choice from the day it came out, and I used it on many different computers with (or at least what I thought then) good results. It's certainly not a bad OS but...
This past holiday season, I got an Asus tablet PC. I wanted to love it, I really did. I gave it a five star review here on Amazon, and I tried my very hardest to use it to it's fullest potential. It was working fine for a while, until I tried the Windows 8 beta. It was all down-hill from there. Viruses, problems (beyond those that should be in a beta, and a general ugliness drove me absolutely insane, and I decided to move away from Windows, at least temporarily. I bought a Chromebook, and while I absolutely love it and highly recommend it, I wanted more out a computer than it offered.

Farb Dannon (New York, NY, United States): After using the two machines side-by-side for a couple weeks now, I can say that the MacBook Air outperforms the MacBook Pro in almost every task and in terms of overall speed and performance. Compared with the newly refreshed and updated Air, the new MacBook Pro is frankly a significant disappointment, and I've pretty much stopped using it altogether in favor of the faster Air. Despite the Air's slower CPU clock speed, it performs faster than the Pro in actual tasks due to the performance boost afforded by it's SSD hard drive. The SSD drive on the MacBook Air makes an enormous difference in everything from casual web browsing to video editing.

Skyhawk (USA): I am a college student that was looking for a laptop. And at first I was thinking I was going to get something like a i7 with dedicated Gpu windows computer. But I am glad I didn't!
FOR ALL WINDOWS FANS, first of all I want to share that I do not hate windows since I game on my windows desktop that I built myself. But my experience with windows laptops has not been the best. Always had miscellaneous problems with video drivers, screen, touch pad you name it! But I thought to myself that hey! at least I have really good spec laptop. Wrong! once I switched to mac all those things seemed unacceptable! I have now noticed that apple really take their time making their laptops and quality is there as well! Now here are some of my reviews of the specs.

Evans Thompson (Dallas, TX USA): The new Thunderbolt port replaces the previous Mini Displayport from the previous generation. It provides much more flexibility for connectivity. There's an increasing number of Thunderbolt accessories such as external disk drives and displays, though you do pay a price for the improved performance. The same port is compatible with existing MiniDisplay accessories and cables, which lets you connect a display via HDMI, DVI, or VGA with various adapters. If you have devices that use a regular DisplayPort, adapters from Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort are also available.

Laptop Sony VAIO Pro SVP13213CXS Deals & Reviews

Al Gator "Al" (Anytown, USA): TRAVEL THOUGHTS At first I thought a 13.3" device would be too big to use on the airplane comfortably especially if someone in front of me reclined. I must say this was not the case--furthermore, this is where the touchscreen really shines. Since it is very light, I can hold it closer to me and use it like a tablet without having the keyboard get in my way. The on-screen keyboard also helps for this. I had to ask my colleague to hold the laptop for a second and when I handed it to him he was shocked at how light it weighed!

Rohan(california): The temps on this laptop can get very hot if you don't watch them. I got to 73C today just watching Netflix. I even wiped the drive and reinstalled from the recovery partition and it still does it.
And to comment on other people saying the screen is glossy, I actually don't find it glossy at all. Its actually a weird middle between glossy and matte. I don't know what Sony did. Its nice though.

V. Voznyuk(Canada): This touchscreen notebook is the lightest I've ever used among Windows computers. Keyboard backlight works fine, screen is bright and glares not that much. Touchpad is great, I read some reviews about it being too hard to operate or something and I think those reviewers were lying. Touchscreen works great too. I think this notebook is too cheap given its quality. Also some reviewers noticed too much flex in its body but I didn't notice any. Probably those reviewers prefer heavyweight Apple notebooks, but I don't like heavy machines, given that amount of flex is roughly equal between this machine and MacBook Air. In any case, I found all the drawbacks stated in reviews to be fake, those reviewers just needed to pick on something. There's only advantages and no drawbacks in this beautiful machine, given it's low price (it's low considering what you'd get for it).

LeQuita Porter(NY): I have only owned the Sony VAIO Pro for 24 hours but I have been glued to it! I love it! Have to get used to Windows 8 and that is probably my biggest adjustment - but this laptop fits me like a well-sized glove! I am not a tablet person - have the Ipad and it has never worked for me - but I didn't like my clunky Dell laptop anymore - so this lightweight "as a feather" , easy to use laptop so far has met my expectations and some. I read complaints about the fan noise - but so far haven't picked any of that up. I am not a sophisticated user, just a regular user - so it definitely meets my needs. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Oh and the touchscreen - is to die for!!! I love it. (Btw - I am still a Blackberry user and need a keyboard -- this laptop (like my BB Q10) gives me the best of both worlds!) Love it!

Laptop Samsung Series 3 NP350E7C-A01US Deals & Reviews

The-millitia (south, usa): Sound. This is a big one for me. Your speakers are slightly above worthless on this. They are tiny. tiny tiny. maybe 1inX0.5in on each side. that is it. its like having tweeters for your main sound. The speakers were the reason i removed a star. Do not expect any rich high-def sound with this laptop and there is plenty of wasted space they could have put bigger or more speakers. Headphones are better for sound quality but its not super rich sound due to sub-par sound card but with headphones the sound is much better, good enough for gaming.

Fred Roberts (Hamburg , Germany): I needed a bigger laptop to use for my own purposes and also in my job giving training sessions in basic computer use. I agonized for several weeks trying to decide which one and finally settled on the Samsung because of the large 1TB disc, 8GB ram and the 17.3" screen and also the I7 processor which could handle virtualbox software for Win 7 and XP operating systems to run as virtual machines concurrently with Win 8. I now have Virtualbox, Win 7, Win 8 and XP installed and running and it handles it with ease. The screen size is very good for me. The only downside is that this is not a light machine. When you put it in a bag with power cord and other stuff I carry around it is a load. But that is the trade off I made.

Robert J. Pipes (Wisconsin): I have not noticed a problem with the sound as some others have, but then again at my age, I dont need a boom box. And what can you say about Win 8? It had me baffled for a couple of days but now it is OK and I can live with it. I use an Iphone so it I kind of understand what they are trying to do and I understand there may be an update coming that will improve it.
I would reccommend this machine if you are looking for one that is this big (disc, ram, processor) and it comes at a great price.

Ambria Lee (Central Florida): I thought the keyboard was great, track pad 'alright' but not special. It's got more bells and whistles than most at a great price point. Overall though it feels like they crammed in all the goods with the concept of providing the most for the least instead of a really great computer. Finish is nice flat black. (not as nice as the replacement Asus Republic of Gaming pretty darn loaded machine) I'm probably over thinking it as surely this preforms great.

Laptop Sony VAIO E Series SVE14132CXW Deals & Reviews

Andrew Ramirez (Charlotte, NC) : This is my first Sony VAIO purchase and I have to say it's really good! It's design is beautiful as well as the Sea-foam color I believe that's what it's called. It has a beautifully back-lit keyboard makes it very easy to see at night obviously but in the day too it looks really nice. It's very lightweight and thanks to it's 5400RPM HDD it does not get hot at all which is a relief because this is a problem I have run into with other laptops.
It comes with an Intel i3 processor which is great for everyday tasks and having several programs open. I use Cisco Packet Tracer while listening to music on YouTube or Pandora and having my browser, Mozilla open with multiple tabs open and it handles it very well.

Katydid79 (New York, NY): I love this computer EXCEPT for the fact that 2 of the USB ports are located at the bottom right hand corner of the machine. Basically, into the space where you would normally be putting your hand and moving your mouse around. So your hand is literally blocked by the any wires that are coming from those ports (including the mouse). Think about the logic here: the mouse wire is in the way of the mouse! Couldn't they have put the ports at the top right corner of the computer? I would have reviewed this computer at 5 stars, but the wires are SO annoying that I'm knocking off a two whole stars, just for that.

Trent Nguyen (Portland, OR): Do No Buy this computer. I purchased this computer for my wife and it has been nothing but trouble since the day we got it. It didn't run right when we set it up, then my wife couldn't get the computer to turn on, she called techincal support and after being given the run around they finally said they would send someone out to the house. When he came he said the hard drive was shot, probably from the factory. then he gave instructions and disks to my wife and told her to install them and he left. That was a nightmare. The not even a week later my wife was having trouble getting the wi fi ti work on the computer. All of our other wi fi devices work fine. The the can't get the @ button to work. Techincal support said they will not give her a new computer or our money back, they will just continue to send someone out to the house. This has been a disaster and I am going to just purchase another computer( Believe me it will not be a Sony) probably an Apple.

Vivy(Ca): In addition, just the other day, my whole device shut down. I brought my Sony to the shop in McLean, Virginia and they said they were unable to fix it because it had cosmetic damage to it. The damage, they said was due to a crack on the side. Um, it WOULD NOT of had damage if it wasn't designed so poorly. Talk about disappointing customer service! I HAD MY LAPTOP FOR ONLY 6 MONTHS. IT BREAKS DOWN IN COLLEGE. NOW YOU'RE TELL ME YOU CANNOT FIX IT BECAUSE THERE IS A COSMETIC PROBLEM? Plus, they said it was an interior problem, but the warranty doesn't cover it since they see cosmetic damage.
